Right now, I think in Spanglish.
It's kind of hard to explain, and people get really confused when I say that...
but because of how hard my brain is working, I can't effortlessly switch between languages (at least not yet)... but because I'm learning so much Spanish, English can be a struggle sometimes, too. {It took me 6 hours the other day to remember the word for poinsettia. This is not a drill, folks, I'm forgetting English.}
What's also frustrating is that I can't speak the way my brain is naturally speaking, because it's not Spanish (so teachers at school have no clue what's up) and it's not English (so I can't use it to talk to people at home). Also, it's not consistent...sometimes I'll use a word in Spanish, and sometimes the same word in English. When I type it out, it tends to be more in Spanish, but when I journal, it's more English. Go figure, right?
To give you a glimpse of this madness, here's an attempt to talk about my day, in the same way that it makes sense in my head.
[**note, this will likely be grammatically incorrect in every single way in both languages.]
Esta mañana, I got up cerca de seis y media.
Gloria y yo tenemos similares senses of humor, so usualmente reímos mucho throught the morning.
I went back to mi casa despues escuela...a doce, y comía un poco despues uno.
Despues almuerzo, yo napped y scrolled through el internet.
A las tres, back to escuela para una clase gratis (si, me gustan cosas gratizes) sobre tortillas. Leí mucho y recibí mucho vocabulario. Despues, we actualmente made tortillas. It was mui dificil!
Ayeee, la salsa was MUI MUI picante. Mi boca hurt por un minuto there, pero it was worth it.
Despues escuela round two, fue al gimnasio by myself. (Me gustan mucho el gimnasio aqui... se llama 'la fabrica' y la treadmill mas cerca del puerta es in English...es un welcome relief from todo the Español.) Corrí mas o menos 2 miles...I'm building up a mileage base por un possible competencia de correr cuando I go back to Michigan. Ahora, I smell funny porque no me ducha yet.
Después el gimnasio, while I was caminando back a mi casa, I found una tienda mui pequeña que venden dulces frozen.
